BROADDUS, MARY V. (POTTS)
Mary V. Broaddus, age 76 of Gibson City died at 9:50 a.m. Thursday 7-11-2002 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. Funeral services were at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday July 16 at The First Presbyterian Church in Gibson City with the Reverend Kathleen Reichmann officiating. Burial was in Drummer Twp Cemetery, Gibson City. Visitation was from 5 - 8 p.m. July 15 at Lamb Funeral Home in Gibson City and for one hour before the services at the church on Tuesday. Pallbearers were Eric Nauman, Mike Potts, Brian Potts, Steve Potts, Russ Idle and Jon Pritts. Mrs. Broaddus was born 1-31-1926 at Gibson City a daughter of Dr. Albert and Neva Newport Potts. She married Alan R. Broaddus on 6-24-1951 at Gibson City. He preceded her in death on 3-7-1973. Survivors include one son, Richard (Joan) Broaddus of Saybrook; one daughter, Ruth (Rick) Rhodes of Monticello; four grandchildren, Amanda and Alan Broaddus and Mitchell and Allison Rhodes; one brother, Charles Potts of Oswego and two sisters, Doris Idle of Bartlett and Alice Nauman of Sacramento, CA. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lee Potts and Dr. Joseph Potts. Mrs. Broaddus received her bachelor of science degree in education from Illinois State University. She was a science teacher at Gibson City High School for 34 years, retiring in 1987. A member of the First Presbyterian Church in Gibson City, Mrs. Broaddus was a member of the church choir and many other church activities. Mrs. Broaddus was a member of the Gibson Area Hospital Auxiliary where she served on the nursing scholarship committee. She was also a member of Delta Kappa Gamma, an educational sorority. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church or to the Gibson Area Hospital.
BROCK, ALBERT WAYNE
Albert Wayne Brock, 85, of Rockford, formerly of Benton, Ky and Gibson City, died Tuesday 5-14-2002 at his home in Rockford. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City, the Rev. Rebecca Zelensky officiating. Burial was in Drummer Twp Cemetery, Gibson City. Visitation was 10 -11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Mr. Brock was born 8-2-1916 at Foosland, a son of David and Eliza (Waggoner) Brock. He married Maxine Mulvany 6-7-1936 at Foosland and she survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Wanda Whitaker of Benton, Ky.; and Rita Brock of Rockford; and two grandsons, Jonathan Whitaker of Bloomington, Indiana and Joseph (fiancee-Marcie Williams) Whitaker of Murray, Ky. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. Mr. Brock was a partner in Royal Oil and Gas Co. in Gibson City for 34 years. He was a member of the First Christian Church in Gibson City. He was a WWII veteran of the US Army. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church building fund of Benton, KY.

BROKATE, WILLIAM R.
PVT. WILLIAM BROKATE KILLED IN ACTION
Private William Brokate, 19, who had been reported missing in Germany since
March 3, was killed in action on that date, the war department notified his
parents, Mr. and Mrs. William Brokate, Sr., Tuesday. He was with the seventh
army. Private Brokate's last letter was dated February 22. He entered the
army September 2, 1944, and trained at Camp Hood, TX. He was home on
furlough New Year's and went overseas January 18. He was born 7-25-1925,
near Anchor and attended school in Sibley. Surviving are his parents; four
sisters, Mrs. Eileen Schuette, Guthrie, Dorothy, Betty Mae and Wilma, at
home; three brothers, Merle, Lloyd and Donald, all at home; three nieces;
his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. R.C. Borchers, Gibson City; and his
paternal grandfather, William Brokate, Cincinnati, Ohio.

BROOKS, CAROL A. (MALONE)
Carol A. Brooks, age 61 of Gibson City died at 5:10 a.m. Wednesday 9-2-1998 at Covenant Medical Center in Urbana. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. September 4 at the United Methodist Church in Gibson City with the Reverend Randall Robinson officiating. Burial was in Drummer Twp Cemetery, Gibson City. Visitation was from 6 - 8 p.m. September 3 at the Lamb Funeral Home in Gibson City. Pallbearers included Glenn Brooks, Joe Brooks, Steven Hawthorne, Gayle Glascock, Ty Royal and Dwaine Horsch. Mrs. Brooks was born 5-16-1937 at Gibson City a daughter of James E. and Helen Josephine Greemore Malone. She married Lincoln Brooks on 12-21-1957 at Gibson City. Survivors include her husband, Lincoln Brooks of Gibson City; her step-mother, Luetta Malone of Blue Mound; two daughters, Cindy Fisher and Carla Hawthorne, both of Gibson City; two sisters, Mary Lee Kretzer of Normal and Doris Gladden of Burton, Michigan; and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and one son. A resident of the Gibson City area for most of her life, Mrs. Brooks and her husband owned and operated the Three C's/Unlimited Laundromat in Gibson City for six years. She was a registered certified nurses assistant. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church of Gibson City.

The funereal of Helen S. Brotherton, age 94, of Melvin, formerly of Decatur, was at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Lamb Funeral Home in Gibson City. The Reverend Roger Ross officiated with burial in the Drummer Twp Cemetery, Gibson City. Visitation was from noon to 1:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Pallbearers included Bob Arends, Dayo Thompson, Ed Kendrick, Roger Arends, Charles Orcutt and Henry Hummel. Mrs. Brotherton died at 1:55 p.m. Wednesday 3-2-1994 at Gibson Community Hospital, Gibson City. She was born 9-9-1899 in Gibson City, a daughter of William and Mary McClure Stathers. She married Vernard Brotherton on 9-21-1921 in Melvin. He died 5-19-1979. Surviving are one daughter, June Bean of Quincy; one sister, Hazel Stathers of Gibson City; three grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Mrs. Brotherton was a member of United Methodist Church, Melvin. Memorials may be made to the church or to a charity of the donor's choice.

Lyle H. Brotherton, age 70 of Gibson City died Saturday 7-20-1991 at his home. His funeral was conducted Monday at Lamb Funeral Home in Gibson City with the Reverend Brent Zastrow officiating. Burial was in Drummer Twp Cemetery, Gibson City where military rites were accorded by the Lee Lowery Post No 568. Visitation was held Sunday at the funeral home with a Masonic service at 7 p.m. Pallbearers included S.J. Wurmnest, Ed Briggs, Lloyd Taylor, Alan Wright, William Jensen and Tony Heideman. Mr. Brotherton was born 9-7-1920 at Ludlow, a son of Leo and Hannah Oftedahl Brotherton. He married Marjorie Wagonseller on 4-27-1947 at Pocahontas, Ark. and she survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Linda Hatfield, Champaign and Cheryl Hartnett of Aurora; a granddaughter; and two step-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers. Mr. Brotherton, who retired from the Norfolk & Western RR in 1978 was a resident of Gibson City area most of his life. He was a member of the Pontoppidan Lutheran Church, Elliott. Mr. Brotherton, an Army veteran of WWII, was a member of Lee Lowery American Legion Post No 568; Elliott Amvets; and the Brotherton-Keller VFW Post No 6289. He also belonged to the Gibson City Masonic Lodge #733 AF&AM; the Mohammed Temple, Peoria; Corn Belt Shrine Club, Gibson City; Mount Olivet Commandery #38; the Knights-Templar of Paxton; and the Ford Chapter No 133 RAM of Paxton. He was a longtime member of Transportation Communication International Union.

The 20th anniversary of Brotherton-Keller VFW Post 6289 will be observed at
a special banmeng Saturday night, 3-20-(1971?). Special guests at the
meeting will be members of the families of the two deceased veterans for
whom the post was named when it received its charter on 3-13-1951 - Lt.
William E. Brotherton and Staff Sgt. John W. Keller.
Lt. Brotherton who was killed in action in France during WW I, was a member
of the 147th Aero Squadron and was the recipient of the Distinguished
Service Cross. He was born 12-18-1893 and was killed 10-10-1918. He enlisted
in the aviation service in April, 1917, and received five weeks of ground
school training at the U of I. Lt. Brotherton was sent to Camp Mohawk,
Ontario, Canada for flying training with the RFC of the British Army and
received further training at Taliaferro Flying Field, Fort Worth, TX. He was
commissioned a second lieutenant 1-28-1918. Lt. Brotherton was a member of
the first class top graduate from Drummer Twp High school in 1912. He was a
son of the late Mr. and Mrs. C.G. Brotherton and was born near Guthrie. His
maternal grandparents were Mr. and Mrs. J.M. Miner. In a letter to his
grandfather, dated June 16, 1918, from France, he wrote that he was "flying

Gibson City - Arleen M. Brough, 92, formerly of Gibson City, died 12-30-2002 in Douglas, Michigan. Private services will be conducted for family, with entombment in Roselawn Memorial Park, Terre Haute, Ind. Mrs. Brough was born 4-4-1910, a daughter of Adam and Catherine Amelia Berlet Schade. She married Benjamin E. Brough in 1933. He died in 1990. Surviving are one son, Benjamin David Brough of Garden City Beach, SC, two daughters, Margery Ann (Richard) Bogasch of Avondale, AZ; and Kaye (Reg) Seidner of Saugatuck, Mich; one sister, Ruth Matthews of Gibson City; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Five sisters and three brothers preceded her in death. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the hospice or breast cancer organization of the donor's choice.

Edward I. Brown, about 75, died at 5:15 p.m. Thursday in the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Sprinkle, 202 S. Wood St., Gibson City. Funeral services at 3:30 p.m. Sunday at Lamb Funeral Home with the Rev. R.M. Luedde officiating. Burial in Gibson City Cemetery. Mr. Brown was an employee for many years at Noble Feed Co., retiring about a year ago. He was born in 1874 at Stanton, VA. His wife, Elizabeth, and four sons preceded him in death. Mrs. Ethel K. Brown, 94, died at 6:10 a.m. Monday 6-7-1976 at the Gibson Community Hospital. Her funeral was held at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 9 at the Lamb Funeral home, Gibson City, with the Rev. Don Jones officiating. Burial was at the Gibson City Cemetery. She was born 2-24-1882, at White Pigeon, Mich. a daughter of George and Clara Marshall Pike. She married Harry B. Brown 5-31-1906 at White Pigeon. He died 7-31-1963. Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Eleanor Wright, Wonder Lake, and Mrs. Ruth Swanson, Gibson City; three sons, Harry B. Jr., Falls Church, Va.; George, Elmhurst and Earl, Westchester; 17 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren. Two brothers and one granddaughter preceded her in death. Following her husband's retirement, the couple lived in both Gibson City and Florida. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. Pallbearers were Ted Swanson, James Swanson, John Swanson, Steven Brown, Stewart Brown and Scott Brown.

Visitation will be from 5 - 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Brown was born 8-26-1907 in Guthrie, a daughter of John and Flora Joos Fitzpatrick. She married Warren B. Brown on 11-6-1929 in Fowler, Ind. He died 12-23-1986. Survivors include a sister, Eva Putnam, Gibson City. Three brothers and three sisters preceded her in death. Mrs. Brown graduated from Drummer Twp High School in 1925. She received a bachelor of science degree from Illinois State Normal University and a master's degree from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana. She taught school in the Gibson City area for 36 years, retiring in 1967. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Gibson City; a past matron of the Drummer Chapter of the OES, and a member of the Illinois Retired Teachers Association. Mrs. Brown was born 9-15-1926 at Gibson City, a daughter of Samuel Calvin and Ivy Johnson Kerchenfaut. She married Robert Brown 12-21-1991 at Bloomington and he survives. Other survivors include a sister, Lois K. Frederick, Glendale, Calif. Two brothers and five sisters preceded her in death. Mrs. Brown was a key punch operator and trainer st State Farm Insurance Cos. Daisy M. Brownlee, age 89 of Gibson City died at 12:18 a.m. Friday 3-1-1996 at Gibson Community Hospital in Gibson City. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 3 at the First Christian Church in Gibson City with the Rev. Philip N Curran officiating. Burial was in Drummer Twp Cemetery, Gibson City. Visitation was from 5 - 8 p.m. Saturday, March 2 at the Lamb Funeral Home in Gibson City and for one hour before the services Sunday at the church. Honorary pallbearers were Gary Reiners, William Lowery and Mike Upton. Serving as active pallbearers were Mike Brownlee, Alan Brownlee, Mark Brownlee, Jeff Elder, Roger Metz and Steve Day. Mrs. Brownlee was born 6-19-1906 near Gibson City, a daughter of Edward W. and Margaret E. Kyle Donner. She married Wesley M. Brownlee on 12-31-1924 at Elliott. He preceded her in death on 10-16-1978. Survivors include one son, Charles Brownlee of Saybrook; one daughter, Dora Mae Witt of Elliott; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Frances McMahon, Verna Farris and Velma Taylor, all of Gibson City; and one brother, Oren Donner of Carlinville. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, four infant children, five brothers and two sisters. Mrs. Brownlee lived in the Gibson City area all of her life. She was a member of the First Christian Church for 75 years. A member of the Guthrie Club, she was also a member of the Christian Women's Fellowship at the First Christian Church and a past member of the Ford County Home Extension. The funeral of David Brownlee, 49, Gibson City, who died at 6:40 p.m. Thursday 12-29-1983 was at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City. The Rev. Randall Perry and the Rev. Jerry Watkins officiated. Burial was in Drummer Twp Cemetery, Gibson City. Visitation was from 2 - 5 p.m. and 7 - 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Brownlee formerly owned Dave's Sports Center in Gibson City, and later manager of the Occidental Fertilizer Plant. He was born 8-6-1934, in Ford County, a son of Wesley and Daisy Donner Brownlee. He married Patricia Hoffman, 6-5-1955 in Anchor. She survives. Also surviving are his mother, Guthrie; two sons, Allan and Mark, both of Gibson City; a brother, Charles of Saybrook; and a sister, Dora Mae Rutledge, Elliott. He was a member of the Gibson City United Methodist Church; Saybrook Masonic Lodge; past president of the Corn Belt Shrine Club; Bloomington Consistory; and Laborers Local 751, Kankakee.

Everett P. Brownlee, age 83 of Elliott died at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, 2-15-1994 at Heritage Manor in Gibson City, where he had been a resident since 1971. His funeral was at 2 p.m. Thursday at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City with the Reverend Patrick W. Cox officiating. Burial was in Drummer Twp Cemetery, Gibson City. Visitation was from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Honorary pallbearers were Richard Gregerson and Don Nelson. Active pallbearers were Wilma Beetzel, Bill Winters, Jim Brownlee, Marvin Beck, Ralph Witt and Glen Lunde. Mr. Brownlee was born 9-11-1910 in Paxton, a son of James M. and Anna Cynthia Scott Brownlee. Survivors include seven nieces and nephews. Two brothers and one sister preceded him in death. Annabelle I. Brucker, 65, of 1603 Erin Drive, Normal, formerly of the Cropsey area, died at 8:45 a.m. 3-27-1986, at Brokaw Hospital, Normal. Her funeral was at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City, Rev. Richard J. Hanson officiating with burial at Drummer Twp Cemetery, Gibson City. Visitaiton was from 5 - 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. She was born 4-18-1920 in Carren Co., Ind., a daughter of Lester C. and Anna Long Ping. She married Gene R. Brucker on 12-25-1939 at Gibson City. He survives. Other survivors include her mother, Anna McClure, Bloomington, three sons, Roger of Normal; Don of Cropsey; and Steven of Jacksonville; a daughter, Mary Ann Spiecker, Normal; 11 grandchildren; a great granddaughter; two brothers, Laurel Ping of Gibson City and Lester Ping, Jr. of Fallbrook, Ca.; and three sisters, Fern Brethorst of Loda; Mary Alice Wallman, of San Diego, Ca. and Pat Craft of Bloomington. She was preceded in death by her father and a sister. She had been a Normal resident since 1979. She was a member of the Cropsey United Methodist Church.
BRUCKER, EDWARD F.
EDW. BRUCKER IS KILLED FRIDAY BY LIGHTING STROKE
Edward F. Brucker, (60 or 69?) of Gibson City was killed when he was struck
by a bolt of lightning Friday at 6:15 p.m. ....patch shed near here. Six
other workers were injured by the ....flash of lightning which struck them
while they and several others were working at the .....station, preparing
peas for the Stokely Foods Inc. plant in Gibson City. The bolt of lightning
struck 100 feet from where the men were working and only a few feet from a
truck in which three men were sitting. The men in the truck were not injred,
but the lightning carried to the shed. Witnesses said that all seven men
were thrown violently to the ground by the shock, and Mr. Brucker got up and
ran several feet before he fell dead to the ground. Altertness on the part
of the men nearby is credited with saving the lives of at least two men who
were injured. Artificial respiration was applied to the men immediately, and
all that was possible was done to relieve the suffering of the injured.
Those injured were Simon Jensen, Delmar Bane, Loren Knell of Paxton, and
three Jamaicans, Resley Grose, Eaton Jayle and Ayrburn Dyer. Jensen was
taken to Paxton hospital with severe shock and a throat injury. Men working
within 100 feet of the accident, and who were credited with saving some of
the injured men's lives are as follows: from Gibson City, C.P. Nelson, Henry
May, Othar Smock, Floyd Cameron, Kelley Hatmaker, John Fawver, Henry Keller,
Frank Marcellus, Clyde Cline, Don Jensen, John Kincade, Maurice Copher,
Phillip Myer and Les Lee; Glenn Harrell from Foosland, Eugene Reynolds and
Richard Tongate of Saybrook, and Otis Wallace of Bellflower.
Edward F. Brucker, 60, who was killed Friday evening, 6-16-1950, was born
1-17-1890 at Sibley, son of August and Mary Steine Brucker. He moved here
two years ago, and spent most of his life farming near Sibley. He was
married to Elvina Lohmeyer 12-28-1911 at Sibley. Funeral services were held
Monday in the Presbyterian Church, Gibson City, with the Rev. James C.
Cayton officiating, and burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Sibley. He is
survived by his wife, two daughters, Mrs. Anna Mae Bunting of this city and
Mrs. Geraldine Bement, Paxton; one son, Kenneth, of Reno, Nevada, and the
following brothers and sisters: Henry, William, John, Albert, Arthur, Carl,
Oscar, Mrs. Alice Hinrichs, and Mrs. Ida Leenerman, all of Sibley; George of
this city, and Mrs. Katie Wallenstein of Fairbury. An infant son preceded
him in death. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church.
BRUCKER, ELVINA C. LOYMEYER
Mrs. Elvina C. Brucker, 64, formerly of Sibley and Gibson City, died Thursday 1-31-1957 at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Alfred Bunting, near Elliott. Her funeral was held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Gibson City Presbyterian Church, the Rev. J.L. Simcox and Rev. E.B. Paine of Elliott officiated. Burial was in Mt. Hope Cemetery, near Sibley. Mrs. Brucker was born at Sibley, 10-26-1892, a daughter of Fred and Anna Miller Lohmeyer. She was married to Edward F. Brucker 12-28-1912 at Sibley. Her husband died several years ago. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Bunting and Mrs. Merton C. Bement, Elliott; a son, Kenneth E., Reno, Nev.; three sisters, Mrs. Frank Rudolph, Woolstock, Iowa; Mrs. W.E. Rudolph, Sibley; Mrs. Paul Elder, Chicago; three brothers, George, Paxton; Earnest and Herman, of Sibley; seven grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A son and a sister also preceded her in death. She was a member of the Gibson City Presbyterian Church and the Order of the Eastern Star.

Flossie M. Brucker, 71, of Gibson City, formerly of Sibley, died at 2:20 p.m. Monday 4-7-2003 at Gibson Area Hospital, Gibson City. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sibley, the Rev. Bob Kinas officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Sibley. Mrs. Brucker was born 2-4-1932 at Gibson City, a daughter of George and Dorothy Smith Brown. She married James H. Brucker 3-4-1951 at Gibson City and he survives. Also surviving are two sons, Marland (Janis) Brucker of Gibson City and Mark Brucker of Elliott; one daughter, Teresa (Eugene) Arnold of Thomasboro; seven grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two brothers, Ernest (Connie) Brown of Gibson City and Robert (Joyce) Brown of Rantoul; and two sisters, Edna Marie (William) Anderson of Lexington and Dorothy Evelyn (Charles) Christianson of Cordova, Tenn. She was preceded in death by two sons, James Jr. and Eric Lee; and three brothers. Mrs. Brucker was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Sibley. She graduated from Saybrook High School in 1950 and had lived in Sibley for 50 years. She worked at McDonald's in Gibson City and was a manager at the Quick 6 gas station for many years. Visitation was held form 5 - 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and for one hour prior to the service Saturday. Pallbearers were Chad Brucker, Roger Brucker, Jr., Michael Spiecker, Steven Spiecker, Don Brucker, Jr., Gene C. Brucker, Deke Brucker and Dirk Brucker. Mr. Brucker was born 11-29-1917 in Peoria, a son of Albert E. and Anne S. Busing Brucker. He married Annabelle Ping on 12-25-1939 in Gibson City. She preceded him in death on 3-27-1986. Survivors include three sons, Roger of Normal, Donald of Cropsey and Steven of Jacksonville,, Fl; one daughter, Mary Ann Spiecker of Normal; two brothers, Lyle of Flint, Michigan and Robert of Piper City; 11 grand-children and four great-grandchildren. Brucker was born 9-22-1915 at Sibley a son of John Herbert and Marie Witt Brucker. He married Mae Miller Barnes on 2-27-1954 at Sibley. Survivors include his wife, Mae Brucker of Paxton; one stepson, Roscoe (and Barbara) Barnes of Los Alomos, NM, one son, Jan Brucker of Rantoul, 2 step-grandchildren and one step-sister, Gertrude Modahl. He was preceded in death by two sisters. Mr. Brucker lived in Sibley for all of his life. He farmed all of his life and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church at Sibley.

She was a lifelong resident of the Melvin and Gibson City area. She worked at the Gibson Area Hospital and volunteered at the Annex. She was active in Community projects in Melvin. Grace and Walter farmed many years near Melvin before his death. She remained in the Melvin area with Joseph until his death in 1988, then moved to Gibson City.

Bulger, 75-year-old Gibson City farmer, died at.... Saturday in the
emergency room of Mercy hospital from injuries received an hour and a half
earlier in a head-on collision on the Dewey-Fisher road three miles south of
the route No. 119 interesection. Critically injured in the crash was Mrs.
Chloa Birkey, 50, route 1, Foosland, who was riding in the other car driven
by her husband, Valie J. Birkey, 51.........Farm residents nearby heard the
crash and summond physicians from Fisher. County Coroner Don Wikoff
impaneled a jury consisting of Charles Manke, foreman; Clifford James, Lyle
Blue, Harlin Bickers, Charles Duvall, and Greenbury Dunn, but the inquest
was delayed pending the recovery of the Birkeys.
The body of Bulger was taken to the Mittendorf funeral home and later
removed to the Lamb funeral home in Gibson City. Mr. Bulger's body was taken
to Lamb Funeral home in Gibson City, where friends may call after 3 p.m.
today. A prayer will be given in the funeral home at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, and
the funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. in the Methodist church, with Rev.
A.M. Willey officiating, assisted by Rev. A.H. Flagge, Burial will be in
Gibson City Cemetery. Born 7-18-1875, in Dix Twp, Ford County, Mr. Bulger
was the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Bulger. He spent all his life in this
community. 8-1-1900 he married Mary Lee ` Perry, and she died 6-27-1937.
Since his wife's death, Mr. Bulger had lived in Gibson City, where he was an
insurance agent. He was a lifelong member of the Methodist Church. He leaves
a son, Homer, Olivet, Mich.; four daughters, Mrs. Gladys Fasking, Gibson
City; Mrs. Ethel Kumler, Arrowsmith; Mrs. Beulah Reiners and Mrs. Edna
Berck, Gibson City; a sister, Mrs. Bertha Muns, Los Angeles, Calif.; a
brother, Louis Tulsa, Okla.; 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. His
wife, an infant daughter and two brothers preceded him in death.

Fred W. Buoy, age 88 of Carle Arbours Continuing Care Center in Savoy for five days prior to his death and formerly of Urbana, died at 3:58 p.m. 1-7-1996 at the Center in Savoy. Addie Burns, 95, of Banning, Calif. formerly of Gibson City died at 2 p.m. 1-30-1995 at Cherry Valley Health Care, Banning, Calif. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City, the Rev. Patrick W. Cox officiating. Burial will be in Drummer Twp Cemetery, Gibson City. There will be no visitation. Mrs. Burns was born 10-9-1899 at Gibson City, a daughter of Herbert and Amanda Fox Green. She married Harry Lovett in 1919. She later married Albert Burns in 1943 at Chicago. He died 6-29-1964. Survivors include two sons, Forrest Lovett, Banning, Calif., and John A. Burns, Gibson City; three grandchildren; and seven great-grand-children. One daughter, two brothers and two sisters preceded her in death. She was a Sunday school teacher at South Union Church, Gibson City. She owned and operated the Iron Kettle Inn, rural Gibson City, for several years. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.

The funeral of Carol E. Burns, age 54 of Gibson City was at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church in Gibson City with the Reverend Dan Hill officiating; burial was in the Elliott Cemetery, Elliott, Ford County, Il. Pallbearers were Ray Jennings, Kevin Hanson, Tom Baker, Steve Miller, Bruce Dickson and Tim Roy. Mrs. Burns died at 11:10 a.m. Wednesday 11-30-1994 at Covenant Medical Center, Urbana. She had been ill. She was born 3-14-1940 in Paxton a daughter of Jay B. and Elizabeth A. Porth Craft. She married Dan Burns on 7-11-1973 in Elliott and he survives. Other survivors include five sons, Dennis Shadix of Mahomet; Tim and Ron Shadix, both of Rantoul; and Doug and Pat Shadix, both of Gibson City; two brothers, Art Craft of Paxton and Don Craft of Wausau, WI; two sisters, Ella Mae Miller of Gibson City and Dianna Hanson of Paxton; six stepchildren; eight grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren. Six brothers and one sister preceded her in death. Mrs. Burns was a lifelong Ford County resident. She was employeed by ECC in Paxton and Gibson City for 10 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Elliott. Memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church in Gibson City or to Covenant Medicat Center Hospice Program in Urbana.

Laurence Sunkel officiating. Burial will be in Drummer Twp Cemetery, Gibson City. Visitation will be from 2 - 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Mr. Burns was born 11-11-1917 at Gibson City, a son of Don and Leona Curtis Burns. He married Fern I. Kiener on 10-22-1938, at Gibson City. She survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Leanne Karr of Champaign; a granddaughter; and a sister, Ruby Alexander of Gibson City. He was preceded in death by his parents. Mr. Burns was a lifelong resident of Gibson City. He was employed at Central Soya Inc for 43 years before retiring in 1982. He had been a Gibson City alderman. Florence B. Burton, 83, of Gibson City died at 9:50 a.m. Friday 3-7-2003 at Gibson Area Hospital, Gibson City. Funeral services were at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City, the Rev. Dan Hill officiating with burial in Drummer Twp Cemetery, Gibson City. Mrs. Burton was born 6-16-1919 at Summit, a daughter of Arthur and Ella (Brayman) Broche. She married Earl Dean on 5-1-1937 at Hoopeston. He died in 1939. She married Isaiah Burton. She then married Harold Eaton on 1-19-1947. She then re-married Isaiah Burton. Surviving are two daughters, Donna Joyce (Joe) McDermed of Tampa Fla., and Linda Carlton of Mattoon; two sons, Arthur Frank Burton and Robert Eaton, both of Gibson City; 10 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. Survivors include her husband, Chester Dale Burton of Gibson City; one son, Rick Myschelle) Burton of Herrin; three daughters, Sheryl Burton of Bloomington; Sheila Nettleton of Saybrook and Patricia (Glenn) Hudson of Heyworth; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; five brothers, Leonard (Charlene) Maupin of Bloomington; Sherman Maupin of Silverton, Oregon; Donald (Sharon) Maupin of Eureka; Kenneth (Jane) Maupin of Kankakee; and Robert (Lynn) Maupin of Cooksville; and one sister, Edith McPherson of Gibson City. She was preceded in death by her parents, one son, Steven Chester Burton and one brother, William Howard Maupin. Mrs. Burton had been a cook for the Gibson City School District for over 20 years. She was affiliated with the Foosland United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the VFW Post 6289 Ladies Auxiliary of Gibson City.

She was born 10-15-1914 in Normal, a daughter of Austin and Ellan Swanson Huff. She married George Burton, Colfax, 2-28-1932 in Gibson City. Surviving are her husband; three sons, Robert, Paxton; Richard, Attica, Ind.; and Roger, Lawrence, Ind.; a sister, Mrs. Virginia Bayston, Paxton, a brother, Hollis Huff, Galena, Kan., and 12 grandchildren. Mrs. Linda L. Bush, 79, died at 7:20 a.m. Wednesday at Gibson Community Hospital. She had been a patient for six days. Her funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Lamb Funeral Home. The Rev. Lester Ringham officiating, with burial in the Drummer Twp Cemetery, Gibson City. Visitation will begin at 3 p.m. today at the funeral home. Mrs. Bush was born 10-19-1886, at Chicago, the daughter of Swen and Bina Jensen. She was married to Edward Bush, 6-21-1911 in Gibson City. He preceded her in death in 1949. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Vera Tomlinson of Onarga; a son, Leland of Gibson City; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one brother and one sister. She was a member of the First Christian Church, the Woman's Relief Corp, the Gibson City Garden Club, the Royal Neighbors of America and the Rebekah Lodge.

A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept 19, at the University YWCA, Champaign. Mrs. Busick was born 10-1-1924 at Ottumwa, Iowa, a daughter of William Albert and Ruby Brain Rutledge. She married Emerson L. Busick on 8-9-1942 at Gibson City. He survives. Also surviving are her mother, Ruby Rutledge of Gibson City; one son, Stephen Busick of Melvin; two daughters, Cheryl Busick of Elgin and Janet Busick of Melvin; four grandchildren; two brothers, Robert Rutledge of Springfield and Jack Rutledge of Lowell, Mich.; and one sister, Norma Kuykendall of Champaign. She was preceded in death by her father and two brothers. Mrs. Busick formerly of Gibson City, lived in Melvin most of her life. She was a graduate of Drummer Twp High School in Gibson City and had attended Parkland College in Champaign. She was enrolled at Eastern Illinois University, where she was working on her bachelor's degree. She worked for 12 years as a unit secretary in the Melvin-Sibley schools. She had been a trust officer for five years at First National Bank in Champaign and was an office manager for four years at the U of I YWCA. She was a longtime activist in the women's liberation movement and was a member of NOW and the ACLU. She also was a member of Grassroots Group of Second Class Citizens, and Bombers and Quilters. Memorial contributions may be made to a Women's Fund in Champaign or to the Donna Rutledge Busick Memorial Fund at the University YWCA.

Her funeral will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Lamb Funeral Home, Gibson City, the Rev. James Schneckenburger officiating. Burial will be in Drummer Twp Cemetery, Gibson City. Visitation will be from 1 - 3 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mrs. Busing was born 3-7-1915 at Richview, a daughter of Harlan and Agnes Kane Taylor. She married Donald A. Busing 2-15-1945 at Kewanee. He died 8-3-1989. Surviving are three daughters, Susan Zimmer, San Diego, Calif.; Karen Clore, Peoria; and Jane King, Farmer City; two sisters, Ferne Krug and Betty Moore, both of Homer; and three grandchildren. Four brothers preceded her in death. Mrs. Busing was a member of the United Methodist Church, Sibley, and the United Methodist Women and Eastern Star of Sibley. She was an election judge for many years. Mrs. Busing was a 1933 graduate of Homer High School. She was a cosmetologist in Bloomington before she married. Burial will be in Drummer Twp Cemetery, Gibson City. Mr. Busing was born 8-22-1916 in Sibley, a son of Gustave and Johanna Kutchers Busing. He married Cary M. Taylor on 2-15-1945 in Kewanee and she survives. Also surviving are three daughters, Susan Zimmer, San Diego, Calif., Karen Clore, Peoria, and Jane King, Farmer City; two brothers, Gus, Cooksville, and Wilbur, Danville; three sisters, Edna Hill, Normal, Esther Vehrs, Sibley, and Florence Stephens, Normal and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two sisters. Mr. Busing had been a resident of the Sibley area all his life and farmed for 38 years, retiring in 1981. He was a member of Sibley United Methodist Church, Lee Lowery American Legion Post 568 and was an Army veteran on WWII.

The funeral of Gerhard H. Busing, 79, of Chenoa, who died 7-1-1970, was held at the Raleigh J. Harris Funeral Home. Burial was in the Gibson City Cemetery. He was born 7-23-1890, near Gibson City, the son of Henry and Anna Elizabeth Hasskins Busing. He married Goldie Evans 12-25-1911 at Saybrook. She died in 1960. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Eileen Downes of Chenoa; Mrs. Margaret Potter of Pearcy Ark.; three sons, Richard, Robert and Eugene all of Pontiac; two sisters, Mrs. Chester Nixon of Bloomington; Mrs. Winnie Taylor of Missouri Valley, Iowa; nine grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. A daughter preceded him in death. He was a Lutheran and farmed south of Pontiac for 54 years. Pallbearers were George Heiken of El Paso; Ray Fredereicks and Warren Fredericks of Fairbury; Joe Francis, Charles Fluere and Ronald Schultz, all of Chenoa.

Graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday, October 7 at the Drummer Twp Cemetery in Gibson City with the Reverend William Hecht officiating. A Masonic service will be conducted prior to the graveside services at the cemetery. There was no visitation. Lamb Funeral Home of Gibson City was in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Busing was born 10-9-1912 at Sibley a son of Gustave C. and Johanna Kutchera Busing. He married Rachael Jane Myers on 9-28-1948 at Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Survivors include three sons, Bently Busing of Normal; Dennis Busing of Melvin, and Richard Busing of Gibson City; six grandchildren; three great grandchildren; three sisters, Edna Hill and Esther Vehrs, both of Colfax, and Florence Stephens of Normal. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters. Mr. Busing was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Sibley. He was a member of the Masons for 58 years including the Mackinaw Masonic Lodge 132, Scottish Rite Consistory of Bloomington and Mohammed Shrine of Peoria. He was also a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and the Elks Club and Tabahla Lodge in Rockford. Mr. Busing farmed for most of his life. He also taught school in Leaf River and for 20 years at Deer Creek-Mackinaw. Memorials can be made to the Shriner's Hospital.

James C. Butler, 77, Gibson City, died Monday, 2-(5?)-1979 at Country Health Nursing Center, Gifford where he had lived four months. His funeral will be Thursday at Lamb Funeral Home, Dr. James Bortell officiating; burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, near Saybrook, McLean County, IL. Pallbearers will be Woodrow Barnes, Stanley Leonard, Richard Gregerson, Jr. Moody, Wilbur Schertz and Rowe Blissard. Mr. Butler was born 6-27-1901 at Saybrook, a son of Charles and Clara Mohr Butler. He married Irene Clark 3-18-1925 in Bloomington and she survives. Also surviving are a son, Franklin, Gibson City; two brothers, Earl, Gibson City; and John, Sun City, Calif.; two sisters, Greta Busing, Missouri Valley, Iowa, and Dorothy Martin, Bloomington; a grandson; and four great-grandchildren. A brother preceded him in death. Mr. Butler retired from farming in the Gibson City area in 1972. He was a member of Gibson City United Methodist Church and Ford County Farm Bureau.
