Orville W. Zander, 89, of Sibley, father of a Melvin man, died at 7 a.m. Monday 5-27-2002 at Veterans Administration Illiana Health Care System, Danville.
ORVILLE W. ZANDER
Orville W. Zander, 89, of Sibley died at 7 a.m. Monday 5-27-2002 at Veterans Administration Illiana Health Care System, Danville. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Sibley, the Rev. Bob Kenis officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery, Sibley, with military rites accorded by the Martin Suntken American Legion Post 244 of Sibley. Mr. Zander was born 4-7-1913 at Sibley, a son of William C. and Anna C. Sehmann Zander. He married Margaret T.W. Poulos on 12-9-1943, at Valparaiso, Ind. She died on 8-20-1999. Survivors include one son, John W. Zander, Melvin; one sister, Darlene Perkins, Chatsworth; two grandchildren; and one great-grandson. Three brothers preceded him in death. Mr. Zander worked at M&W Gear Co., retiring in 1978. He owned and operated Zanders Grocery in Sibley for nine years. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Sibley. He was an Army veteran of WWII. He was a member of the Sibley American Legion, the Gibson City VFW, the DAV of Normal and the Elliott AMVETS. He was past commander of the Ford Council of American Legion.

Russell E. Zeedyk, born: 2-10-1921 in Danforth Twp. parents: Frank and Laura Anderson Zeedyk wed: June Talbert 1-20-1946 in Onarga and she survives died: Thursday 3-20-2003 2:17 p.m. at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana buried: Onarga Cemetery.
