Lois Eaves LoisEaves@worldnet.att.net
EAVES: Charles S. Eaves - born May 1855. The stories of his life are varied and many. If there is any truth to any of them - they have been embellished beyond recognition. Most everyone in the family believe that he was from Scotland. But I found his marriage certificate in Buffalo Creek CO (1880) that states that he was from Paxton, Ford County, IL. (If he were born there - he would have been born in Vermilion Co.) The 1900 MO census - where they moved and lived out their life - also states that he was from IL but that his parents came from Scotland. The 1880 Colorado census - states that he was from Scotland. I cannot find the family in any IL census. The quality of the films is poor - at best. Since he left home at a very early age and never wanted to contact his family again - nobody has any knowledge of his parents or siblings. I am hoping that there will be some record of him - and his birth family somewhere. If you have any ideas of where I can direct my search - it would be appreciated by many of his descendents... He had 9 children, 33 grandchildren more g-grand than I have a count on.

SCHLOEDER/SCHLADER: I have some relatives who cames from Germany into Ford Co. in the late 1860s. Thier name was Johannes SCHLOEDER, the last name changing to SCHLADER when they entered the US. Since I know very little about their early years in the US, I am interested in any information anyone would have concerning this family. Thank you, Emily Schlader Chapman, Weippe, ID 83553

SCHROCK: I didn't realize it until just this afternoon that I should be pursuing the Schrock surname. I'm having trouble making progress on the King surname so I decided maybe try to work out some of the "married into" familes.
Phillip KING and Barbara POWELL m. 23 January 1858, probably Woodford County.
Child 3 of this union, Edward King b. 23 November 1863 married Elizabeth Schrock.
Child 7 of this union, Anna Salome King, b. 21 January 1869 mariied Joe Schrock.
By doing a Social Security database search I came up with: Issuing state=IL + surname=Schrock equals 33 names just in and around the Peoria, Woodford, McLean, Ford counties area. Anyone have this surname in their list? Can anyone do lookups in marriage, census, or birth indexes?

His wife, Nancy Ann SKIDMORE (b Va 1813), died in Nov 1862 in lllinois (said to be in both Middle Fork Twp, Vermilon Co, and "Bluegrass" Illinois?). Just received family documents that include statement that Alfred was "Killed by a train in Paxton Illinois Sep 10 1875". Is anyone aware of any sources to seek additional info regardng his death or recods of same? In addition, Alfreds son, Alfred Elijah SLUSHER (b Va 1842), married Illinois born Eliza (Elizabeth) Jane KELLOGG in 1867 in Illinois. Place of marriage unkn but may be Vermilion or Ford Co? Also seek info on Alfred and Nancy's youngest, daughter Amelia SLUSHER, born Apr 8 1856 in Va. This 6 y/o child died on Apr 16 1863. Date indicates her death was very likey in either Vermilion or Ford County, Illinois, as she died just 7 months after her mother. Alfred is known to have somtime returned to Va, as he is found, a widower w/o children, in 1870 Hardy Co Va census. It is not known why Alfred was in Paxton Illinois in 1875!! Surely a resident or visiting family? Any informaion or search/resource suggestions appreciated!
