BARROW: Frederick Barrow, b. abt. 1810 Fred. Co. VA, died after 1870, Ford Co. IL. I am looking for descendants of the following family who moved from Va. to Ford Co. IL. Frederick Barrow and his second wife, Mary A. Smith (b. 1823, d. after 1865 in Gibson City IL), moved to Ford Co. abt. 1869.where he bought a tract of 160 acres in the southern part of the county, near Champaign county, for $1,280 in 1869. In 1870 he bought three more parcels of 30, another 30, and 80 acres, for $247, $246, and $640, respectively. Source: my own search of the Illinois Public Domain Land Tract Sales Database. Frederick and Mary (Smith) Barrow had the following children: AUGUSTUS ADOLPHUS, ANN AMERICA, ALPHEUS WALKER, CHARLES, FRANCIS VIRGINIA, MARY OWEN, and LEWIS WILLIAM BARROW. (Lewis William Barrow died April 28, 1928 in Gibson City, IL, according to one source.) I believe that Lewis William Barrow was named for his maternal grandfather, Lewis F. Smith of Frederick Co. VA. I have information on the Smiths to share.

BERRIGAN: Looking for information on decendants of Julia BERRIGAN also found spelled Berigan or Bergan, b. abt. 1848 in Ireland. Julia came to Illinois with her family in the late 1850's Peoria Co., moved to Livingston Co. in 1868 and is said to have married a McDermott and moved to Ford Co. Kempton and Piper City were mentioned by our elder relations who have since died. Other than a couple of stories passed down, the only evidence we have found of Julia is a census entry form 1860 when the family was living in Radnor Twp., Peoria Co. Julia's family: father Patrick Berrigan, b.1804 Co. Kilkenney Ireland d. 1892 Chatsworth, IL, mother Anastasia, b 1817 Co. Kilkenny, d. 1900 Chatsworth, IL, brothers James, b.1874 Ireland, d. 1914 Milwaukee, WI buried in Chatsworth, John, b. abt. 1850 looking for him too possible Ford and Kankakee Co. connections, Michael, b. 1855 New York, d. probably Seattle, WA, William, b. 1856 New York, d. probably Seattle, WA.

BERTRAM: My Bertram family begins with Wilhelm & Elisabeth Bertram who came to Illinois about 1885 from the area of Oldenburg, Germany. They first lived near Sibley, IL on a farm and then moved to 2 1/2 miles north of Melvin. They farmed the land, then my father and mother, William Charles and Florence Elizabeth Underwood Bertram lived there and then my oldest brother. Some of Wilhelm and Elisabeth's children stayed in Illinois while Wilhelm's brothers went to North Dakota and Minnesota.
Also looking for the church records for the Zion German Methodist Church of Melvin, The church was first organized in 1868. A brick church was built and dedicated in 1912 during the pastorate of Rev. Ferd A. Bose. Services were discontinued in 1969 as they merged with the Methodist Church of Melvin under Rev. Harry Deffley. The church was located at the corner of Crosley and Highway 57, Lot #30 of Section 7 of Melvin, Il. The records are not at the present Methodist Church and I have talked to the Conference Historian and they are not in their library.

My grandfather William Bernard BERTRAM was born there March 12, 1890. Between 1892 and 1906 they lived in Guthrie, Il before moving to Iowa and eventually to Minnesota in 1913.

BOYLE: Looking for any information on my great-grandfather, John Boyle, who came to Ford County in 1867 with his father and siblings, Patrick, Daniel, and Jane. His mother, Mary Kief Boyle had died in 1856. His father and John's two brothers, Pat and Dan, filed aclaim on 160 acre tract of land about 2.5 miles northwest of the town now known as Roberts. John married Anna Plunket. Among their children were my grandfather, Thomas Edward Boyle and Ellen Boyle Redenbaugh. John and Anna Boyle are buried in St. Mary's Cemetary, Roberts IL. My grandfather, Thomas Edward Boyle, was born in Roberts IL on January 8, 1887. He moved to Danville IL (date unknown) married Myrtle Oda Hastings. My father, Thomas Edward Boyle, Jr., was born in Danville IL June 23, 1914. My grandfather died December 31, 1947 in Danville and is buried in St. Mary's Cemetary, Roberts IL.

DAHLSTEDT: Nils Gustaf Johnson Dahlstedt, lived in Paxton, Illinois, about 1900. M. W. Dahlstedt and his unnamed wife had a picture taken there at the time. O. A. Dahlstedt also had his picture taken. We think the three were brothers. We have lots of info about Nils, but nothing about the other two.

DONALY: Looking for more evidence of Frank Donaly, and his father, Cornelius. He was married in Ford Co. May 16, 1882 to Sarah Margaret Shull. The marriage record states that he was 29 and lived in Wall Twp, Ford Co. Sarah was 20 and lived in Patton Twp. The name is spelled Donally on the marriage record. Frank was born in Milwaukee, but I have been unable to find him in any Illinois census (or other surrounding counties) between his birth and marriage. His father immigrated from Ireland.

EATON: The Speedies, Thorntons, and Eatons were all related and some Speedie descendants still live in Gibson City, Illinois to this day. Frederick Morris EATON, was born in Melvin on June 1, 1912. His father, Fred M. Eaton, and Fred's wife, Ethel Elizabeth SPEEDIE, daughter of Andrew Chester Speedie and Amabel Thornton Speedie, lived either on a farm near Melvin or in an apartment above a store in Melvin or both. The Speedies were from Gibson City. Charles William Eaton, was Superintendet of Schools or a teacher in Roberts.

GUSTASON: My husbands great-grandmother was born in Paxton. Mary C Gustason born 21 April 1866 to possibly one Goren and Eva Gustason Could you possibly point me in the direction of obtaining some record of her birth? It appears that Goren and Eva and their sons never show up on a census. The spelling of the last name came from handwritten family records.

IRELAND: Looking for information on Sarah Amelia (Lyons) Ireland. She also went by the name of Amelia. She lived in Buckley for 30 years (between about 1889 and 1919 and raised nine children there. She was married to Thomas Ireland and her children's names were: George W. Ireland (died in infancy); Frances Elizabeth Ireland (Temple), also known as Elizabeth; Thomas Leslie Ireland; William Bruce Ireland; Frank Remembrance Ireland; Theodore Byron Ireland , also known as Byron; Lee J. Ireland; Earl W. Ireland; Sara Emelia Ireland; and Clarabelle Ireland. She attended the Church of Christ in Paxton, Ford County, Illinois. Her father was Andrew Lyons, and I would like more information on him. He was born in 1818 and settled in Iroquois County in the mid-to-late-1800s.

Christopher Coggins appeared in the 1870 Census living in Lyman Township with his daughter Catherine (Coggins) Kelly. She was married to James Kelly. Their children were: Edward, born in 1857 in New York City; Anna born about 1859; James about 1861; John about 1862; Marcella about 1864 and a baby about 1866. Christopher Coggins died 1/11/1892 and is buried in St. Mary's Cemetary.

KNIGHTS: Searching for members of two families who were married and lived in Gibson City,Ford county,Illnois around 1905 and later. Jesse C. Knights, s/o Luman and Jennie Knights and Ida Schwartz d/o George Schwartz, were married in the town of Fisher and lived in Gibson City. Have a newspaper article about their marriage but no date given. The article says Jesse and Ida lived six miles southwest of Gibson City,where they farmed.

LAMB: I am looking for information on the LAMB and Edwards families. James Edwards owned a mortuary/furniture store possibly called Lamb's in or around Gibson City or Elliot. The families are related but I am unsure how. I do know that James Edwards had a daughter named Mary Alice Enda (Alice) Edwards. She married William E. McDowell. The names I have for the LAMB's are Elijah Shurnway (sp. ?) LAMB who married Lucky S., they had a son Wallace Shurnway (sp. ?) Lamb.

LARSSON: Looking for information about Noak Peter Larsson, born 26 April 1854 in Sweden. He left his family there and emigrated to America in February, 1891. He had sent two postcards home to Sweden, one of which had a photo of East Side High School in Paxton, and the other of the Ford County Court House. Neither had any writing on them. He also sent a photo of himself apparently taken by P.A. Rasmus. It is said that he died in the 1930's. He left a wife and children in Sweden, and his descendants continue to live there. Relatives both in Sweden and in the US would like to know just what happened to him.

LEWIS : Looking for information on the James H. LEWIS family that moved from Frankfort, Herkimer County, NY to Piper City, Ford County, IL in late 1860s or early 1870s. Wife was Mary Elizabeth (STEWART) Lewis. Four children: Henry L. LEWIS, b. July 24, 1859 in NY; Carrie Elizabeth LEWIS, b. December 23, 1862 in NY; Frank A. LEWIS, b.September 1, 1873 in Piper City, IL; and Edna May LEWIS, b. January 1, 1879 in Piper City, IL. The family appears on the 1880 federa; census of inhabitants of Piper City, Town of Brenton, in the County of Ford, State of Illinois. They moved to Fremont, Nebraska in the early 1900s. Would also appreciate sources for history of Piper City. A Piper was also living in upper state New York at the time my LEWIS-STEWART ancestors were. Is there any connection between these Piper's and those for whom Piper City was named?

MCCRACKEN: Looking for information on Rev. Robert McCRACKEN of Paxton. He was a Presbyterian minister who came from Penn. and was originally born in Ireland (abt 1820's). He married Elizabeth HOAG (probably in Penn.) and had a son named Robert A. McCRACKEN. Robert Sr. is possibly a brother of my 2nd great-grandfather, Samuel McCRACKEN, from Iroquois County (Loda).

ROSS: We are searching for information and a bible that belonged to Nelson Ross and Sarah Adams who lived in Sullivant Twp., Ford County, in 1860. Nelson Ross was a farmer; born in MA 1818-11819 with no known death date. Sarah Titcomb Adams was born in NH in 1832/33. They married in Kankakee in April 1865. They had two daughters, Frances Adams Clark (who lived in Gibson City on Monroe St. to July 1940) and Elizbeth Adams Borah ?.

TWIEHAUS: Looking for Twiehaus, Haag, Grosenbach, Elhers, and Lange from Ford Co. around the 1870's in Piper City area.
UPDATE: William Twiehaus and his wife Dena Wilhemnia Neimier lived and died around the Piper City area. He died on 04/23/1900 and she 11/29/1927.

VANNATTA: I am researching information on the family of John and Mary Ann Reed Vannatta who married in Ohio in 1851 then shortly thereafter moved to Vermilion Co., IL. 4 of their children apparently married in Ford Co.: Barnet, Joseph E, Anna and Rebecca 1882-1897. John and Mary Ann lived in Circle, Vermilion Co in 1876 as did a James H. Bailey who married the oldest daughter, Josephine. Circle is only about a mile from the Ford Co. line. I have not found John or his wife buried in Vermilion Co. and I suspect since 4 of their children married in Ford Co. there is a good chance John and Mary Ann are buried in Ford Co.

Son Charles born 1860 my great-grandfather. Son Samuel Isaac? In 1878 Charles married Elizabeth Davis from Mclean County. She was the daughter of Simeon Davis and Mary Vance.

WILSON: Seeking information regarding Luis Bartlett Wilson and Mary Ann Lambertson Wilson who were married in Paxton, Ford Co., IL., in 1878. Luis ( other spellings are Lewis and Louis) was born in Francisville, IN., 1853, to parents L. Wilson and Fannie Dewey. Mary Ann Lambertson ( Spelled LAMBERTON on tombstone, etc.), was b. 1847, in NY to parents Alexander Lamberton and Anna Jane Clark, both b. scotland. Luis and Mary had five children, two who survived childhood: John Lamberton Wilson, b. 1888, NY, and Byron Alexander Wilson, b. abt. 1883. Although John was born in NY, family believed to have lived in IL. prior to moving to MO., in abt. 1905.
